Description

Insulating Cork Render (EWI-745)

EWI-745 Lime and Cork Thermal Insulation Mortar is a sprayable coating mortar for the thermal insulation of both horizontal and vertical elements. Its spray machine compatibility lends itself to uniquely shaped architectural construction.

Intended Uses

Ceramics, thermo-clay, bricks, lime mortars, concrete blocks. It is not recommended for use on OSB panels. Rigid insulation systems are recommended for thicknesses greater than 8 cm. It is suitable for interior and exterior applications.

Substrate Preparation

Substrates must be solid, dry, and clean of any previous plaster, microorganisms, gypsum, cement, or other material that could prevent optimum adhesion. Dampen the substrate before application to ensure good adhesion and proper curing. This will also prevent dehydration and consequent cracking. For older substrates, it is recommended that a levelling parge coat is applied for uniformity.

Product Preparation

EWI-745 Lime and Cork Thermal Insulation Mortar comes as a 6kg dry mix. Mix 4.5L of water with the bag’s contents and continue mixing for 3-5 minutes until the mixture is homogeneous. For larger volumes of material, use an electric mixer on a lower speed. The usability after mixing is 60 minutes.

Application

Sprayed mortar: The mixed mortar should be spread evenly over the entire surface to be covered in layers of 1 to 3 cm thick. For thicknesses greater than 3 cm, apply the mortar in two or more layers, preferably before the previous one hardens.

Trowel-applied mortar: It is recommended that the mixed mortar be spread evenly over the entire surface to be covered in layers with a maximum thickness of 1 to 1.5 cm. For thicknesses greater than 1.5 cm, apply the mortar in two or more layers, preferably before the previous one hardens.

Storage Conditions

This product comes in powder form in a 6kg paper bag.

Use the product within one year of its manufacture. Store in its original, tightly sealed packaging in a cool place protected from rain. It is recommended that the entire bag be used once opened.
