Description

More about Insulating Render

Cornerstone Insulating Render is a dry ready mixed render and plaster designed as a lightweight fibred basecoat for external applications or a basecoat and topcoat for internal applications within a minimum of a two-coat render application. Available in the colour white.

Engineered with precision to enhance the thermal performance of solid walled masonry whilst exceeding the high vapour permeability and flexibility of a traditional NHL2 lime render. Utilising 100% pure natural hydraulic lime, recycled glass aggregates and conservation-appropriate additives, this lightweight render outperforms popular market alternatives. Available as standard with fibres and Saint-Astier® NHL2.

Well-suited for projects looking to reduce thermal losses within walls, with a measured K Value of 0.095, a 50mm application will improve the U value of a solid wall by 50% or more.

  • Our most popular lime render
  • Highly vapour permeable to support moisture management
  • Can absorb, store and buffer excess moisture
  • Ideal for consistently damp backgrounds
  • No risk of render rot or breakdown for moisture-prone areas
  • Non-organic aggregate prevents rot and decay
  • Improves indoor air quality and thermal comfort
  • Can be applied at 50mm per pass as a high-build render
  • Lightweight for less demanding levelling and finishing
  • Apply directly to walls in areas with limited space
  • A viable solution for Part L1 legislation

Technical Information:

Materials: Natural Hydraulic Lime, recycled glass aggregates, additives
Mix Ratio: 2:5 including fibres
Binder: NHL2
Aggregate: 2mm down recycled glass aggregate
Work: Rendering
Coverage: A 9kg bag covers approx. 1.5m2 at 10mm thickness
Yield: A 9kg bag yields approx. 15 litres
Colours: White
Use: Internal, External
Coat: Basecoat
Standard: BS EN 998-1: 2016
Fire Rating: A1
Application: Manual

Area of Use:

Suitable for internal use, where the binder strength is appropriate for the host background or surface. Suitable for external use when finished with Cornerstone Promix Medium or Promix Fine and mineral paint.

Insulating Render suits various rendering or plastering applications, including as basecoat for external applications or a basecoat or topcoat for internal applications within a minimum of a two-coat render application. Appropriate for various project types, including conservation, renovation, or sustainable construction.

For a superfine internal finish, use Promix Superfine Finishing Plaster or Superfine Putty Finishing Plaster for a traditional finish. We recommend Promix Medium Topcoat in an NHL2 for an attractive medium textured finish for external applications.

A 9kg bag yields approximately 15 litres of lime render or plaster and covers roughly 1.5m² at a 10mm thickness. Consumption rates will change based on how even the background is and suction. On-site trials are advised for the best yield indication for your specific project.

As this contains recycled aggregates, there may be variations in colour, texture, and shape. While these variations are minimal, when colour consistency is crucial, we strongly advise each elevation is completed using material from the same batch.

Supplied in 9kg polythene-lined and colour and batch-code paper bags for easy identification on-site and palletised for ease of transport, storage, and handling.

Do not use in temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C, or if freezing conditions are predicted within the following few weeks, including wind chill. We always advise following best practices for curing and protecting fresh mortars. Protect from adverse environmental conditions, including frost, rain, direct sunlight and drying winds.

Store in covered and dry conditions, protected from environmental conditions, including water, damp or frost and clear from the ground. Always reseal packaging if product is still present.

Always read the available documentation before use. See the Download Documentation section below for more detailed product information, application guidance and datasheets.
