Description

EWI-260 Levelling Mortar

Our EWI-260 levelling mortar is used on walls to produce a smooth surface or a scratch coat on which a basecoat or EWI system can be applied. The Levelling Mortar can be used to fill and repair holes and other imperfections up to a maximum thickness of 50mm, and the mortar can be applied on various different walls and substrates, including concrete as well as different types of block or brickwork.

Preparation

Substrates must have sufficient load-bearing capacity, must be stable and free of contamination which might affect the adhesion properties of the mortar e.g. dust, oil, moss, loose and peeling paint or plaster coats. Remove all loose or peeling plaster coats. The wall surface, plastered or not, should be cleaned with a wire brush as necessary then rinsed with water and allowed to dry. Highly absorptive and dusty substrates should be primed with EWI-301 Water Based Primer.

Slowly add the Levelling Mortar dry mixture to a suitable container with 4 litres of clean cool water. Once the Levelling Mortar has been added to the water, mix using a paddle mix to achieve a uniform, lump-free consistency. Set aside the levelling mortar for 5 minutes and then mix again thoroughly before applying to the substrate.

Application

Apply EWI-260 Levelling Mortar to the substrate with a trowel up to a maximum thickness of 50mm. Smooth out the layer to prepare a level surface ready for further works. EWI-260 needs to be left for a minimum of 48 hours before any more works are carried out.
